Scaling New Heights: The PayItMonthly Team-Building Hike to Leckhampton Hill

At PayItMonthly (PIM), we believe that a strong team isn't just built at a desk -it’s built through shared experiences, fresh air, and a bit of healthy challenge. On Tuesday 16th June, the PIM team stepped away from our screens to swap our keyboards for hiking boots on our latest company team-building walk!

Our mission? Lacing up for a scenic trek from the office right to the summit of one of Cheltenham’s most iconic landmarks: Leckhampton Hill and the famous Devil’s Chimney.

The full route spanned approximately 8 to 9 kilometres, taking us from the heart of the office out into the beautiful Cotswold landscape. While the views from the top are always spectacular, getting there required tackling a couple of fairly steep hills. It was a brilliant test of stamina, but the team kept morale high with plenty of laughs, snacks, and speakers setting the soundtrack for our climb.

Making Team Building Inclusive

One of our core values at PayItMonthly is inclusivity. We know that a strenuous 9km hike isn't for everyone, but we wanted to make sure the entire team could share in the fun.

To bridge the gap, we set up an alternative starting point at the Leckhampton Hill car park. This allowed team members to join us for a much gentler 1.2km stroll to the summit, ensuring everyone could enjoy the panoramic views over Cheltenham and the Cotswolds together.

Rewinding and Rewarding at The Norwood Arms

No great team walk is complete without a proper finish line. After capturing some brilliant group photos by the Devil's Chimney, the team headed down toward Bath Road.

We wrapped up the afternoon at The Norwood Arms, where everyone enjoyed a well-earned drink covered by PIM to celebrate a successful day out. It was the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and chat outside of the usual office environment.

"Taking time to connect as a team outside the office environment is invaluable. It’s these shared challenges -and the socials afterward- that truly strengthen our company culture." -Chris Pursey, PayItMonthly CEO and Co-Founder

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, brought the energy, and made the afternoon such a massive success. Keep an eye on our blog to see where the PayItMonthly team heads next!
